NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, the NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since it began in 1921.

SERVICE PROJECTS

Each year, the National Honor Society holds two peer buddies events, where DHS special education and regular education students meet to enjoy socializing and sports.  In addition, the group hits the road every spring to help children and adults with special needs.  For the last several years the Honors Society has traveled to the Ability First Center in Long Beach to lend a helping hand with the facility and work with people with severe developmental disabilities.
